Algorithms Pick Chicago Artists for Top 2017 Songs

2017’s been a hell of a year. World news, politics, movies, Stranger Things season 2, and everything else aside – music streaming continues to surge and the number of bands that fit under the genre “indie rock” continues to rise.
Having had been a member of Spotify since its launch almost 10 years ago, I always look forward to the end of the year wrap-up. The company rid of their monthly stats, letting users know their top songs during short terms, and chose to stick with a once a year tell all.
While I do believe there may be some faults with their algorithms (i.e. long term is weighed heavier than short term), you can find 22 Chicago tunes that made my 100 most listened to list below.
